Cress

Cress is a fast-growing plant that likes cool climates. It grows particularly well in the Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean regions of Turkey, as the mild climatic conditions in these regions are favorable for the healthy growth of cress.

Cress cultivation starts by sowing the seeds directly into the soil. The soil should be rich in organic matter, loose and well-drained. Cress requires regular watering and sufficient sunlight, but can be damaged by extreme heat. Also, because cress grows fast, it needs to be harvested frequently.

When it is time to harvest, cress is picked with its fresh and vibrant leaves. Yields vary depending on soil conditions, irrigation regime and climatic conditions. Fresh cress is a delicious and refreshing aromatic herb, especially used in salads, sandwiches and appetizers.
